Sam Whyte

Team captain: Annmarie Rocks

About

In May this year, the firm’s media manager Sam Whyte will be taking on the Fred Whitton Challenge.

Regarded as the toughest amateur cycling event in the UK, Sam will complete the 112-mile cycle while traversing 11,000ft (3,350m) of mountain roads with some climbs, like the infamous Hardknott Pass, imposing a lung-shredding gradient of more than 30%.

It is likely that Sam will spend more than nine hours in the saddle which, as many people can imagine, is a mission in itself!

But what will keep him motivated is knowing that no matter how bad he may temporarily feel in the moment, he knows he is doing good elsewhere.

That’s because he is raising money for Empty Kitchens, Full Hearts – an Edinburgh charity whose people work to combat poverty by providing meals and holistic support services.

Since the pandemic the Granton-based charity has provided more than two million meals across the capital and this year has been nominated as Digby Brown’s Edinburgh charity partner for 2026/27.

All of Sam’s travel, accommodation and equipment needs are already paid for by himself which means all donations will go straight to the charity.
